Let’s take a minute and talk about a running back that you don’t likely know much about, that likely spent this season (last season and the one before) sitting available on your waiver wire, and that could help you achieve fantasy glory for years to come. Let’s talk about Oakland’s best back this season, Jalen Richard. I know it’s hard to believe that Richard (RB 34) lead a backfield filled with past season fantasy all-stars like Marshawn Lynch (RB 59) and Doug Martin (RB 37), but you’d better believe it, sister. Pull your chair up, lean in, and I’ll give you 3 good reasons to target Jalen Richard in your Dynasty League and in your Best Ball drafts this off-season. REASON 1: Talent + Production Poor Richard has taken advantage of every opportunity he’s been given to the tune of a career 5.3 yards per carry. This year he leads his team with 4.7. Playing third fiddle at his position to start the year, he also managed to tie for the team lead in catches (68 with Cook). I know his team was bad this year, so let’s look a broader picture, shall we? You didn’t read that wrong. Jalen Richard gained more scrimmage yards per touch than ANY OTHER RUNNING BACK IN THE LEAGUE this year. The question remains, will he get enough touches next year to make that count for something? REASON 2: His team is prime for change Richard began this season as the 3rd or 4th RB on the depth chart depending on your Deandre Washington stance. Next year? Not so much
REASON 3: His coaches Two points to make here.
To make this as short and simple ass possible, Jalen Richard absolutely deserves to be on your Best Ball and Dynasty trade target lists. With the team finishing the way it did, with Martin finishing the season with two strong performances, and with the inevitable hope that will fill Raider Nation after Draft day, the difference between Richard’s perceived and his actual value will never be greater than it is now. Cash in and lock up an RB3/flex spot for all of next year. It’ll cost you next to nothing. Dwayne Lynn
